As the academic and labor market landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial for researchers to develop and enhance their skill set, particularly transversal competencies, to enhance their competitiveness. These skills are essential for fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and ensuring that research generates a meaningful societal impact.
The Mobilization and Mutual Learning (MML) workshop aims to:
- Share knowledge on developing and enhancing transversal skills of researchers.
- Co-define potential solutions to help universities rethink their investment in education and training, better preparing researchers for future challenges and opportunities.
Participants
The workshop will bring together participants from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Universities Alliances, Research Performing Organizations, quadruple helix stakeholder organizations and from other EU-funded projects and initiatives.
Workshop Outline
The first part will present the results from the recent “Predictive Studies on Transversal Skills Development” conducted by Ernst & Young (EY) within CATALISI project. This study analyses researchers’ skillsets and provide recommendations to bridge the current skill gaps to better equip young researchers for the evolving research environment.
The second part will showcase EU inspiring initiatives to enhance the career development of researchers, even beyond the academic career path: the European Competence Framework for Research Managers (CARDEA project) and trainings for researchers in Open RRI (PATTERN project).
Finally, during the co-creation session, participants will have the opportunity to collaboratively provide inputs on 1) potential challenges that can be faced in advancing towards the development of researchers’ skills in academic environments and 2) co-define concrete actions at institutional level and that can be transformed into policy recommendations. Participants will use Miro for collaboration (if you are not familiar with the tool, you can find information here Miro basic Guide).
